Special Care Graphite Pressure Seal

Problem

A particular model of Borg Warner pressure seal valves were designed for a metal pressure seal with no neck height. Due to this fact, a direct replacement with an identical “graphite pressure seal will fail, as happened at Palo Verde (photo attached).

Solution

To address this situation, a new bonnet or buildup of the bonnet can be performed to provide neck height. Refer to drawing for details.
