Improved Door Seals on Absorber Scrubbers

Problem

Door Seals on Absorber Scrubbers are very challenging due to the extremely corrosive environment. OEM supplied Viton dovetailed gaskets (due to the length) leaked at several locations. Gasket surfaces were re-finished with a grinder. Faces were not flat by as much as 3/32”.

Solution

1/8” Thick Style 3504 Gylon gasket faced with Gore-Tex joint sealant on both sides was able to compensate for the flange irregularities. Garlock was able to make the Gylon gasket one piece thru their welding (fusing) process.

Application is absorber door on scrubber at Keystone Station.
