Re-Heat Duct in Gas Turbine HSRG
Problem
The existing joints were failing prematurely due to the fact they were not designed for the severe lateral movements and high temperatures (1300 Deg F).
Solution
With extensive knowledge of gas fired power plants, Holz was able to re-engineer the expansion joints specifically for this unique application. A customized pillow was engineered to address the extreme temperatures and turbulence at this area, and to completely fill the voids caused by non-typical metal frames. Dimensions for the pillow and joint were carefully chosen to absorb the large lateral movements, but minimize any extra materials that would fold upon itself creating potential “hot-spots”.
