Foreign Material in Steam Generator FME Issue

Problem

Metal fragments found in the steam generator at a nuclear plant. The fragments were determined to come from the metal winding in the spiral wound gasket used on the steam generator.

Solution

The gaskets were replaced with a Kammprofile style gasket which consists of a solid metal core with graphite facing.
