Air Transfer Duct at Hydro Electric Plant

Problem

The existing expansion joint failed prematurely due to oil laced water collecting at the bottom of the joint. The weight of water restricted the movements which caused the expansion joint to tear at the corners.

Solution

In order to solve the problem a galvanized drain was molded into bottom the joint. This will allow the plant to drain the expansion joint during routine maintenance.
