BREA, CA – March 28, 2024 – Curtiss-Wright Corporation announced today that it will participate in the 2024 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Student Conference to be held at Pennsylvania State University. Curtiss-Wright is a Gold Sponsor of this year’s event which will take place from April 4-6.

The 2024 ANS Student Conference will highlight the latest developments and innovations in nuclear science and recognize the work done by ANS Student members nationwide. As governments and organizations across the globe work toward achieving aggressive carbon reduction goals, the nuclear industry is poised for unprecedented growth as a central technology that enables this clean-energy vision.

In 1960, the Company donated its (now decommissioned) Quehanna nuclear research facility to the University. Kenneth Lindquist—for whom the Ken and Mary Alice Lindquist Department of Nuclear Engineering is named—is an internationally renowned neutron absorber expert and esteemed Penn State alumnus. Lindquist’s patented technologies led to his founding of the Northeast Technology Corporation (NETCO), which was acquired by Curtiss-Wright in 2009 and now operates within its Nuclear Division in Danbury, CT. In the Company’s EMS Division, Curtiss-Wright’s EMD business in Cheswick, PA has collaborated with Penn State University for over 20 years in hydraulic test facility development and advanced technology applications. Additionally, Curtiss-Wright’s Chair and Chief Executive Officer, Lynn Bamford, is a Penn State graduate, having earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University.
