February 08, 2021
BREA, CA FEBRUARY 8th 2021 – Curtiss-Wright’s Nuclear Division announced today it has signed a teaming agreement with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL). Per the agreement, Curtiss-Wright will serve as a channel to market for SEL’s line of digital protective relays and engineering services for Commercial Nuclear markets worldwide.
Based in Pullman, Washington, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories invented the first microprocessor-based digital protective relay in 1982 – an innovation that revolutionized the electric power industry and provided new functionality in power system protection. With over 35 years of experience and more than 5,200 employees, SEL continues to drive innovation as the industry leader in digital protective relay technology.
“We are excited to partner with the Curtiss-Wright team to apply our highly reliable power protection technologies and services across all areas of nuclear operations,” said Mark Zeller, Sales and Services Director for SEL.
The new agreement will allow Curtiss-Wright to support the domestic and international nuclear fleet with qualified safety related and non-safety related SEL digital protection products. “SEL invented this type of technology. Their expertise in the design and manufacture of digital protection products will enhance Curtiss-Wright’s ability to offer innovative digital solutions that promote safety and efficiency, resolve obsolescence challenges, and support advanced nuclear technologies,” said Kurt Mitchell, Vice President and General Manager of Curtiss-Wright’s Nuclear Division.
